Free from condemnation, we can forgive.
Guilt Won’t Have the Last Word
The whole gospel points to Christ as God's final answer to sin and human condemnation

This short devotional is about forgiveness, from Romans 8:2.
in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death
Romans 8:2
The scene
We are in Rome, the great capital of the empire, a city Paul still longed to visit.
In the letter to the church in Rome, Paul speaks frankly about the struggle with sin: he does the wrong he does not want, and the Law, weakened by the flesh, cannot change this.
Then comes the turning point of the letter: what was impossible for the Law, God did. He sent His own Son and condemned sin in the flesh. So now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1-3).
No condemnation means sin was never serious.
Sin is serious: Paul even cried out for deliverance, and the answer was Jesus. In Christ, condemnation gave way to grace. Thank God for Him.
In our day
All it takes is an old message or photo, and guilt repeats the same sentence over us again, as if the case were still open.
Paul found the answer in Jesus, not in himself: there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We keep confessing what we got wrong, without reopening the case the cross closed. God has already spoken the last word over us.
Relief. Paul wrote that the requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us, who walk according to the Spirit.
What God asked for, He Himself fulfills in us through Christ. Rejoice in this new life and walk with the Spirit.
Peace. Paul wrote that the requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us, who walk according to the Spirit.
What God asked for, He Himself fulfills in us through Christ. Rejoice in this new life and walk with the Spirit.
Freedom. Paul wrote that the requirement of the Law is fulfilled in us, who walk according to the Spirit.
What God asked for, He Himself fulfills in us through Christ. Rejoice in this new life and walk with the Spirit.
Guilt. Paul wrote that the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Guilt repeats accusation; God's Spirit brings life and peace. Receive this peace that does not depend on our getting it right.
Fear. Paul wrote that the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Guilt repeats accusation; God's Spirit brings life and peace. Receive this peace that does not depend on our getting it right.
Weariness. Paul wrote that the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Guilt repeats accusation; God's Spirit brings life and peace. Receive this peace that does not depend on our getting it right.
Today, I will read Romans 8:1 slowly, word by word, and thank Jesus that in Him there is no condemnation.
God did in Christ what we could not.
The heart that surrenders to forgiveness finds a lightness pride never could offer.
