What God sows can take root in us.
Hold On to What You’ve Heard
The parable of the sower shows that persevering in the word is part of fruitfulness

This short devotional is about obedience, from Luke 8:15.
with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, cling to it, and by persevering produce a crop
Luke 8:15
The scene
A great crowd came from every town to Jesus, and He told of a sower who went out to sow: some of the seed fell along the path, some on rock, some among thorns, and some on good soil, where it bore fruit a hundredfold.
To the disciples, Jesus explained: “The seed is the word of God”. Whoever hears it and holds it in a noble and good heart bears fruit that lasts.
In the parable, the soil itself produces the seed.
In the parable, the soil receives the seed; the one who scatters it is the sower.
Fruit is not born of our strength, but of the word God plants in us by grace. He cares for what He planted. Rest in this care.
In our day
We hear a word that touches us, and worries, bills, and screens choke it before the day ends. The seed stays on the surface.
The Sower keeps going out to sow, never giving up on us. Keeping the Word is letting it take root slowly: remembering it along the way, returning to it later, practicing it in a small gesture.
Hope. Jesus told the disciples: to you it is given to understand the mysteries of the kingdom.
Understanding the word is a gift, not an achievement. God opens our eyes to the Kingdom and gladdens us with it. Celebrate this gift.
Gratitude. Jesus told the disciples: to you it is given to understand the mysteries of the kingdom.

Joy. Jesus told the disciples: to you it is given to understand the mysteries of the kingdom.
Understanding the word is a gift, not an achievement. God opens our eyes to the Kingdom and gladdens us with it. Celebrate this gift.
Worry. Jesus knows the worries that choke the word; He Himself named them.
Worries don't scare off the Sower. He scatters the word again on our weary ground. Rest and let the seed stay.
Weariness. Jesus knows the worries that choke the word; He Himself named them.
Worries don't scare off the Sower. He scatters the word again on our weary ground. Rest and let the seed stay.
Distraction. Jesus knows the worries that choke the word; He Himself named them.
Worries don't scare off the Sower. He scatters the word again on our weary ground. Rest and let the seed stay.
Today, whenever worries press in, I will softly repeat a verse I read and keep it with me.
God sows His word abundantly.
The Word doesn't bear fruit overnight. It grows hidden in those who hold on and don't quit.
