A sudden scare can meet a hope.
The LORD will be your confidence
Proverbs ties trust in the Lord to freedom from snares and sudden shocks

This short devotional is about anxiety, from Proverbs 3:26.
the LORD will be your confidence
Proverbs 3:26
The scene
We are in Jerusalem, the city of King Solomon, with the palace and the temple up high.
In the Proverbs of Solomon, king of Israel, a father teaches his son. He asks the son to trust in the LORD with all his heart and keep wisdom, the same wisdom with which the LORD founded the earth (Proverbs 3:5, 19).
Then he speaks of the road and the bed: walking without stumbling, lying down without fear. In the face of sudden danger, the reason is only one: “the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from the snare”.
Trusting in the LORD is never feeling fear again.
Proverbs doesn't hide the fright: it speaks of it and points to the LORD as our confidence. With fear and all, we can go to Him. Trust in the Lord.
In our day
A scare comes without warning, a phone call or a test result, and we try to protect ourselves by calculating every risk, even in bed.
Proverbs doesn’t promise a life without scares, but shows where to rest the weight: on the LORD who founded the earth. Jesus calls us to believe in Him too (John 14:1). The sudden danger can be handed to Him, and the bed can become a place of trust.
Relief. The father reminds us that the LORD, with wisdom, founded the earth and established the heavens.
The One who holds the world also takes care of us. Rejoice in the Creator and give thanks for the peace He gives.

Fear. The father speaks to the son of sudden danger and says: "Do not fear".
Feeling fear doesn't separate the LORD from us. He keeps our feet from being caught. Give Him this scare.

Restlessness. The father speaks to the son of sudden danger and says: "Do not fear".
Feeling fear doesn't separate the LORD from us. He keeps our feet from being caught. Give Him this scare.
Today, before turning off the light, I give God the scare of the day and pray: Lord, You are my hope.
The Creator of the earth is our confidence.
The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul. — Psalms 121:7
