Faith keeps going even when the time is long.
The Perseverance of the Saints
Biblical faith isn't a passing impulse, but steady endurance nourished by hope in God

This short devotional is about faith, from Revelation 14:12.
Here is a call for the perseverance of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 14:12
The scene
We are in Patmos, an island of rock in the Aegean Sea, where John was because of the word of God.
John was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God, a companion of his brothers and sisters in affliction and in the patience of Jesus (Revelation 1:9). There, he receives visions to write to the churches of Asia.
In one of them, he sees the Lamb standing on Mount Zion. After harsh warnings from angels, comes the sentence: “Here is a call for the perseverance of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
For John, being faithful to Jesus meant being free of affliction.
John was a companion of his brothers and sisters in affliction and in the patience of Jesus. Faith does not take affliction out of the way, but Jesus goes through it with us. Stay close to Him.
In our day
We start out excited: a reading plan, a decision to pray more, a fresh start. As the weeks pass, life tightens and our breath grows short.
John calls perseverance the continuing to keep what God said and to trust in Jesus. And we do not walk alone: the Lamb, who went to the cross for us, stands ahead. Faith can go one step at a time, leaning on Him.
Encouragement. Here is the perseverance of the saints: John sees people who keep on with God.
The encouragement we have comes from God too, and He sustains it on the long days. Rejoice in the Lord and keep close to Him.
Hope. Here is the perseverance of the saints: John sees people who keep on with God.
The encouragement we have comes from God too, and He sustains it on the long days. Rejoice in the Lord and keep close to Him.
Gratitude. Here is the perseverance of the saints: John sees people who keep on with God.
The encouragement we have comes from God too, and He sustains it on the long days. Rejoice in the Lord and keep close to Him.
Weariness. John sees the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, with His own.
When breath runs short, the Lamb keeps standing. Perseverance does not depend on our strength, but on staying with Him. Hand this over to Him.
Discouragement. John sees the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, with His own.
When breath runs short, the Lamb keeps standing. Perseverance does not depend on our strength, but on staying with Him. Hand this over to Him.
Distress. John sees the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, with His own.
When breath runs short, the Lamb keeps standing. Perseverance does not depend on our strength, but on staying with Him. Hand this over to Him.
Today, when I feel like giving up, I will ask Jesus for strength to take just the next step with Him.
The Lamb is standing beside His own.
The faith that counts is the faith that keeps going after the excitement fades.
