Our cry to God can become a firm step.
Go Forward, Says the Lord
Facing the sea, God tells the people to go forward and places Himself between them and danger

This short devotional is about obedience, from Exodus 14:15.
Tell the Israelites to go forward.
Exodus 14:15
The scene
We are at the Red Sea, wide waters between Egypt and the desert, with the people camped on the shore.
Trapped between the sea and the chariots of Pharaoh, the children of Israel cry out to the LORD. God says to Moses: “Tell the Israelites to go forward“, and tells Moses to lift his staff over the sea.
The pillar of cloud moves behind the people and stands between Israel and the Egyptians all night. Moses stretches out his hand, a strong wind blows, and Israel passes through on dry ground, with walls of water on both sides.
God told Israel to go forward and left the people to defend themselves alone against the Egyptians.
The pillar of cloud moved behind the people and stood between Israel and the Egyptians. God guards our backs too. Go on with Him without fear.
In our day
We already know the next step, but we stand still waiting for the fear to pass: asking forgiveness, starting a conversation, praying again.
God told Israel to go forward and, at the same time, stood between them and the danger. Obeying is not walking alone or earning His care: it is taking the step with the One who already guards us. With Him, one small step is already a beginning.
Courage. There was a cry, and God answered with a direction: "go forward" (Exodus 14:15).
God hears our cry and shows the next step. Rejoice in this God who answers and goes with us.
Trust. There was a cry, and God answered with a direction: "go forward" (Exodus 14:15).
God hears our cry and shows the next step. Rejoice in this God who answers and goes with us.
Hope. There was a cry, and God answered with a direction: "go forward" (Exodus 14:15).
God hears our cry and shows the next step. Rejoice in this God who answers and goes with us.
Fear. Moses told the cornered people: "Do not be afraid", and "The LORD will fight for you" (Exodus 14:13-14).
Fear does not have to decide the path. The God who fought for Israel is the same who cares for us. Rest in Him before the next step.
Indecision. Moses told the cornered people: "Do not be afraid", and "The LORD will fight for you" (Exodus 14:13-14).
Fear does not have to decide the path. The God who fought for Israel is the same who cares for us. Rest in Him before the next step.
Weariness. Moses told the cornered people: "Do not be afraid", and "The LORD will fight for you" (Exodus 14:13-14).
Fear does not have to decide the path. The God who fought for Israel is the same who cares for us. Rest in Him before the next step.
Today, when fear makes me stop before what I already know to do, I will pray and take one small step with God.
The God who says go forward goes with us.
Not all waiting is faith. When God has already said go, the next step is to rise and walk.
